1. Seven Letters to the Church Today’s Message The Letter to Thyatira: The Compromising or Permissive Church

2. TEXT: Rev 2:18-29 Rev 2:18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet [are] like fine brass; Rev 2:19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last [to be] more than the first.

3. Rev 2:18-29 Rev 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. Rev 2:21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

4. Rev 2:18-29 Rev 2:22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. Rev 2:23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

Rev 2:18-29 Rev 2:24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. Rev 2:25 But that which ye have [already] hold fast till I come. Rev 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

6. Rev 2:18-29 Rev 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. Rev 2:28 And I will give him the morning star. Rev 2:29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

7. The Recipients: The Messenger to the Church at Thyatira The Speaker: is Jesus The Commendation: For deeds or Works: 1.Love & Faith 2.Service & Perseverance 3.For expanding ministries

8. The Complaint: They Tolerate a false prophetess They Tolerate false teaching They Tolerate sexual immorality They Tolerate Idolatry

9. The Warning To the compromising and corrupt To be cast into a bed of suffering To Jezebel’s followers the same fate Children would die

10. The Purpose of the Warning To honor Jesus To execute Justice

11. The Counsel to the faithful There will be no other burdens or demands made upon the faithful Condition of Counsel They must hold fast

12. The Promise To Overcomers 1.They will be given authority and power over the nations 2.They will be given the Morning Star (Jesus)

13. What does this all mean There was religious tolerance/ Is there religious tolerance in you & I People young and old alike will Compromise and do almost anything to: 1.Get attention 2.To be popular & acceptable 3.To secure their jobs 4.To get promotions 5.To get good grades 6.To get more money 7.To get bigger houses 8.To live in better neighborhoods 9.To get more power People clearly compromise what they know is right in order to get what they want!

14. What God desires from us Faithfulness and steadfastness To hold fast to the commitment we have already made to Christ. To hold fast to the spiritual growth that we have already achieved. To hold fast to the ministries we have already launched.

15. We are not to give in to the seductions of the world Gal 5:16 [This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, Eph 5:15 So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. (NLT)

16. Phl 3:16 But we must be sure to obey the truth we have learned already. Hbr 3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. Hbr 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast [our] profession. 1Jo 2:6 Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Christ did.

17. Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

18. There are promises to Overcomers 1.Overcomers will rule with Christ over the nations Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and [I saw] the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received [his] mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

19. The Overcomer is given the Morning Star. Rev 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, [and] the bright and morning star.

20. Note Let the person who has an ear hear what the Spirit saith to the Church. Let him separate from the world. Let him never compromise & become corrupted with the sins of the world. Let him never allow “Jezebel,” a compromising and corrupt person to teach in the Church.
