Fear of Where I Stand with God Luke 2:8-11, Romans 3:19-24

How can we lose the fear of not knowing where we stand with God?

Outline Reasons for Fear Remedy for Fear

Reason? And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. Luke 2:8-9

Shepherds didn't measure up to God's standards. Shepherds believed they were destined for Hell. Reasons?

However, if you do not obey the L ORD your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you… Deuteronomy 28:15 Reason?

Remedy? good news But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid (Fear not). I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. Luke 2:10-11

The Good News ! Remedy—The Good News ! What is the Good News? Obviously, the law applies to those to whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show that the entire world is guilty before God. For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are. Romans 3:19-20

But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. Romans 3:21-22 What is the Good News?

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. Romans 3:23-24 What is the Good News?

We can't measure up to God’s standards Have you ever lied? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever disobeyed your parents? Have you ever lusted?

What is the Good News? For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Romans 3:23

Jesus measured up in our place Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. Romans 3:24 What is the Good News?

We can become right by faith Don't trust in your good deeds Trust in Jesus’ good deeds—Trust in Him What is the Good News?

We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. Romans 3:22 What is the Good News?

How do you lose the fear of not knowing where you stand with God? Christ Alone + NOTHING!!! Believe that!
