Like biomes, ecozones are unique in terms of plants, wildlife, climate, geology, and human activities. Unlike biomes, ecozones have specific locations on the earth's surface. Canada has 20 ecozones: 15 terrestrial (land) and 5 marine (ocean). Ecoregions -Each ecozone in Canada is divided into several ecoregions. These ecoregions represent smaller, distinct ecosystems which share similar characteristics. Canada has 217 terrestrial (land) ecoregions.
