9 THE APPROACH TO OPEN SOURCE? (Note: Steward Approval Required) Royalty free source code: Centers respect the obligations incurred in returning improvements in open source code to the related open source communities Open access to all source code: Centers ensure public access to all open source source code produced by the Center Multiple commercial friendly licenses: Centers utilize the commercial friendly licenses supported by OHT Not discriminatory or restrictive of any person or group of persons: Centers do not engage in open source design, research, or development efforts that create relationships with persons or organizations that exclude other willing partners Rights to make derivative works: Centers retain all abilities to develop and promote derivative works Rights to package, service, support, redistribute, brand and price with or without attribution: Centers retain all abilities to package, support, redistribute, brand and price open source products with or without attribution Principles of openness, transparency, and meritocracy applying to all projects and activities: Centers identify any conflicts of interest with persons or organizations participating in open source activities to include: joint IP or transfers of IP; purchasing or consulting relationships; and any other relationships that may inhibit the free-flow of OHT open source collaboration.
