This War BackHistorical He is talking about the war on Terrorism. September 11 th is called a war on terrorism because there were terrorist that hijacked the planes that flew into the buildings and into the Pennsylvania Field. This entire song is about how we should never forget about the ones who protect us, the ones who hurt us and the ones who fell protecting us from the others who hurt us.

Darryl Worley Back Darryl Worley Darryl Worley was born in Pyburn, Tennessee on October 31, 1964. He was surrounded by musicians as a child. He went to college at Alabama University majored in biology. He then went on to teach seventh and eighth grade biology. After this he began to pursue the musical career. He stared off playing bars for $150 a week. It wasn’t long before his traditional country music style got noticed big time. He released his number one single in 2000, he only got more and more popular from then on. When going to Afghanistan and visiting the American troops he got inspired for this song because of the anger and hatred of Americans against this war. (Worley). Literary

Rhyme Scheme Back The rhyme scheme in this stanza is I hear people sayin'. We Don't need this war. A I say there's some things worth fightin' for. A What about our freedom, and this piece of ground? B We didn't get to keep 'em by backin' down. B They say we don't realize the mess we're gettin' in C Before you start preachin' let me ask you this my friend. D I think that songs are more catchy when there are rhyming words at the end of phrases Literary

Have you forgotten? Back Literary “We wrote this song and put it on the album because we wanted the troops to know we hadn't forgotten them, that we still think about them and pray for them.“ – Darryl Worley He adds this phrase in the song multiple times. I think that he does this because he wants to make a point. That we still appreciate and support them. He just doesn’t want us to forget about them. They are a big part of what we have today.

When those towers fell Back Historical September 11, 2001, 8:45 am; the first Twin Tower fell. Not even 20 minutes later, 9:03, another plane flew into the other World Trade Center. There were huge clouds of smoke and all that was left of these buildings were 2 big piles of rubbish and debris. (September 11 th ).clouds of smoke
13
Bin Laden BackHistorical We aren’t very sure how he died, but there are stories of him being either killed by a US bomb in Afghanistan during the battle for Tora Bora or he just died of kidney disease. Till this day they are still unsure, but the only thing they do know for sure is that he had been dead for eight years. For years he was the most famous fugitive. You couldn’t turn on the news with out hearing his name. We wouldn’t stop looking for him until we found him. ("Is Osama Bin Laden").
14
9/11 Back Historical September 11 th was by far the most deadliest attack on Americans. There were four hijacked planes; two in New York, one in Washington D.C., and one in Pennsylvania. These hijackers killed everyone on their planes and over 3,000 people who were either in the 110 story Twin Towers, in the Pentagon or in Pennsylvania. (September 11 th ).
15
Pentagon BackHistorical September 11 th, 9:43 am, yet another hijacker crashed into the Pentagon. 10:10, a part of the Pentagon collapses. This is the worlds biggest office building. The Pentagon is in Washington D.C., which is in the boundaries of Virginia. This caused chaos everywhere. (Roberts).chaos everywhere.

I've been there with the soldiers BackLiterary He spent time with the soldiers over seas, this encouraged him to get a totally different perspective on what life is like over there. Also how the soldiers felt when they are over there. He didn’t just say this, he was actually there in person. He also did a benefit concert for the troops.benefit concert
17
Pennsylvania field BackHistorical This is the memorial site in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Everyone in this small town wanted to recognize all of the fallen heroes that went down with the plane that day. They wanted to make sure that no good deed went unnoticed. There are also people who rotate keeping watch at this site, they also answer any questions people have because they want everyone to know the correct facts. (Powell).Shanksville, Pennsylvania
18
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday Darryl says this because he doesn’t want anyone to forget how much the troops really do for us. Because he took a trip over seas he has a different perspective on everything about the troops. He just wants to make sure that no one forgets all of the fallen soldiers and those heroes that went down. If he could he would remind people everyday so that people don’t just take them for granted. What about our freedom, and this piece of ground? Darryl says this because he is trying to get across that we are very selfish and take many things for granted. This piece of ground is talking about the United States and how we need to keep protecting it no matter what cause it is our country and our freedom. No one should be able to take that away from us.
