2 What are Podcasts and Vodcasts? A podcast is an audio file that can be broadcasted and downloaded via the internet. A vodcast is a video file that that can be broadcasted and downloaded via the internet.

3 How To Create Podcasts Option 1: Computer Recordings Record your audio through the use of an iPod and microphone. Download it to the computer. Record your audio through the use of a microphone and Movie Maker, Audacity, or another form of audio software.

4 Computer Recordings Movie Maker Open Movie Maker Click the microphone icon on the bottom left corner Click Start Narration Record your voice

5 Movie Maker Audio Recording Click Stop Narration and save the file to the desired folder. Upload the file to the free webhost. Web hosts are listed on the next slide.

6 How To Create Podcasts Option 2: Cell Phone or Web Site Recordings Record audio through the use of your cell phone. Websites that provide the service – create a free account at www.gabcast.com www.gabcast.com Record audio on the computer or at the site and upload or save. Code can be embed into your website. www.gcast.com www.podomatic.com www.evoca.com www.veotag.com www.voki.com

7 Create a Video in Movie Maker Open Movie Maker Click capture video from device Click Start recording Record audio and video. Go to File and click Save Movie File as an avi file. Upload this movie to a hosting web site to create a vodcast.

8 How to Create Online Vodcasts Option 1: Webcam Recordings Record with Webcam attached to the computer or insert photos using Movie Maker. Record video or upload photos directly in the free web site. Record your desktop for tutorials and directions. The SMART software can be used for this. All Video channels should be private and protected by passwords in order to ensure student confidentiality and privacy.

9 Vodcast Create a Ustream.tv Channel Go to http://ustream.tv to create a private class channel.http://ustream.tv Record classroom activities with your webcam and save to your channel. Students will need a password to view the video. Embed the video code into your edline account.

10 Create Movies Upload Photos to Online Sites Create a Flickr account. Simple photo uploads. Then use some of these sites. 12 Embedding Code into Edline Locate and copy code for video or photo websites. Go to your Edline Page, Add a document, choose Enter Text by Hand Click the Html button Paste the code into the new window and click update. Save the page.
