Fiber Project In 2012 - Mayor Beutler made Broadband infrastructure a priority for Lincoln Hired Fiber Infrastructure Manager to design and build a City- wide fiber network Started with a paper-based map of existing traffic, water and electric conduits May 2013 - City leased space in the new fiber conduit system to first Broadband provider - NebraskaLink June 2013 - UNL signed lease agreement September 2013 - Arena, Haymarket Park and UNL East Campus added to the system October 2013 - Nebraska Co-Location Center (First Tier 3 data center in Lincoln) added to the network
