1 Bullard Education Foundation Investing in Our Future Grants Fall 2012

2 Purpose The Bullard Education Foundation is offering all staff the opportunity to apply for grants to support innovative programs or projects to support higher levels of student learning. The grants must enhance student academic performance and support the objectives, goals, and initiatives of the Campus or District Plans. Innovative Teaching Grants are designed to encourage, facilitate, recognize and reward innovative and creative instructional approaches to the accomplishment of program objectives to enhance learning.

3 Bullard Education Foundation Goals Promote innovation in the classroom Provide an avenue for community involvement and awareness in the schools and the foundation Recognize students and staff for excellence and achievement Assist in the strive for an exemplary education for all Bullard ISD students

4 What is the need? Describe the area of student achievement you wish to address and give any data that supports the need. Keep the statement simple and straight forward. Show how project relates to the District/ Campus Plans/ Goals.* *Remember to use best practices/research Be creative and innovative ……

5 Objectives for this Grant… Limit the number of objectives, tell what you wish for and how it will be used and evaluated. Be specific.

6 What is the Proposed Grant Project/Activity? Describe the issue to be addressed. Show how the project supports the purpose. List steps to be followed in project implementation. Relate project to need and objectives. Again, be specific and include how it will be evaluated. (student success)

7 How to Evaluate the project/ activity?  Relate to stated objectives.  Indicate how you will know whether the project was successful. (Students Success, STAAR, etc…)

8 Things to Remember… Grants are to be used to fund projects that cannot be provided for in the school and district budgets. Objectives and outcomes should be consistent with the goals of your school and the district. GET OUT OF THE BOX!!!!!!.

9 More Things to Remember…  When creating your budget, research carefully and be realistic.  Small grants are just as likely to be awarded as large grants.  Funds will not be awarded for budgeted items available from district resources.  Projects awarded must be fully implemented by the end of the spring semester.

10 Innovative Teaching Grants Range from $200 to $5,000 each grant $200.00 to $1000.00 per teacher/staff member Or Up to $5000.00 per department Grants can be awarded to an individual teacher, campus department, principal, or other staff member that works directly with students.

12 Selection Criteria  Originality of the project, demonstrating educational innovation  Aligns to district goals and objectives  Evidence that students will benefit from the grant  Clearly stated objectives that are well-articulated, attainable and measurable  Accountability for funds as detailed in the budget request  Evaluation plan, including measurable indicators of student success

13 Grant Review Committee (over ten readers!!!!) 15 Final Thing to Remember… Grant Application including budget must be submitted electronically. Email the application as an attachment to jan.hill@bullardisd.net By: October 31, 2012 ( 12 p.m.) Fax or send in school mail the cover sheet with original signatures. If Technology is included in the grant Mr. Sleeper must sign off on cover page..... Good Luck!!!!!!! ….
