What do we need to know about each other? What am I doing here? Brief background Something unique about me! How would I describe my personality?
5
CIPD Foundation - LD Aim To equip learners with the knowledge of underpinning theory of delivering effective learning and development activities, and provide an opportunity to practice delivering as an assessed activity and receive feedback.
6
CIPD Foundation - LD Learning Objectives Identify the necessary conditions for a positive learning environment State the key characteristics of adult learners and how to factor these in to delivery Identify typical barriers to learning and suggest ways of overcoming these State the key considerations in planning the logistics of a learning activity Factor in considerations of individual learning styles when delivering a learning event Suggest ways of triggering interest through focus on the visual, hearing, feeling stimuli receptors of learners Use a range of questioning techniques to support a learning event, identifying where to use different methods
7
CIPD Foundation - LD Learning Objectives State the key considerations in setting up the training room and stage managing the delivery of an event Manage group and practical activities in support of a learning event, factoring in considerations of group dynamics Identify typical ‘difficult delegates’ and suggest various ways of dealing with them Explain the importance of ‘reading the room’ and monitoring the progress of learners during a learning event Plan for effective consolidation of a learning event Demonstrate good practice in assessing the effectiveness of learning – during the actual event and on its completion Deliver a training event as part of assessed activity for this unit

Identifying the range and extent of learning required to meet the business needs of the organisation Specifying those learning needs very precisely Analysing how best those learning needs might be met

Concrete experience (planned or accidental) Reflective observation (actively thinking about the experience, its basic issues, and their significance) Abstract conceptualisation (generalising from reflections, analysing, in order to develop a body of ideas, a theory or principles which can then be applied to other, similar problems or situations, thus leading to more successful behaviour in those situations) Active experimentation (trying out the learning in other, similar situations: creativity, decision making and problem solving) The experiential cycle of learning (Kolb, Rubin and McIntyre)
