EOT/ER - Objectives Education –HPC competencies for teaching and learning (K-12 to graduate) –Integration of HPC resources in teaching and learning at all levels –Integration of computational thinking within standards (K-12 to Grad) –Guidelines for designing effective educational interfaces for gateways Outreach –Raise awareness of impact and access to TG in all fields of science –Engage current & new communities of TeraGrid users “on their own turf” –Provide annual user’s group (TeraGrid conference) Training –Establish HPC competencies for learning and workforce development –Integration of HPC resources into research and education –Address evolving petascale (and beyond) needs and requirements –Establish effective (research-based) on-line training methodologies External Relations –Multi-media information about TeraGrid’s resources and services –Multi-media Science Highlights in all domains including under-served communities –Awareness of TeraGrid via multiple venues (web, conferences, journals, etc.) Evaluation –Evaluation of the effectiveness of the EOT programs –Address second tier impact on community –Provide foundation for longitudinal studies of impact

RP Efforts to Meet Objectives Education –Establish computational thinking competencies coupled to standards –Create and review resources (VV&A process) in HPC University (NSDL) –Scale-up successful programs and activities with external organizations –Engage with standards setting bodies (AAAS, NSTA, NCTM, GRE) –Document case studies for others to adopt/adapt/scale-up –On-going community requirements and feedback process Outreach –Coordinate and support professional society outreach - talks, exhibits, tutorials, etc. –Coordinate and support Campus Champions - logistical and technical –Participate via speaker’s bureau and CI Days outreach –Conduct on-going community requirements and feedback process –Support annual TeraGrid Conference Training –Create and review resources (VV&A process) in HPC University (NSDL) –Scale-up successful programs and activities with external organizations –Document case studies for others to adopt/adapt/scale-up –Implement single registration process –Conduct on-going community requirements and feedback process

RP Efforts to Meet Objectives (continued) External Relations –Continue to provide timely multi-media information –Produce mutli-media Science Highlights –Produce promotional materials to highlight resources and services –Establish partnerships with professional societies as outlets for stories –Conduct on-going community requirements and feedback process Evaluation –Develop common instruments and process for cross-RP evaluation –Conduct surveys, interviews, and collect relevant data –Document case studies and best practices –Conduct on-going community requirements and feedback process

Education Objectives HPC competencies for teaching and learning (K-12 to graduate) Integration of HPC resources in teaching and learning at all levels Integration of computational thinking within standards (K-12 to Grad) Offerings to meet objectives Quality resources coupled to learning standards and GRE requirements Provide evidence of improved teaching and learning at all levels Case studies and best practices for scaling-up and sustaining successful programs RP Tasks to meet objectives Establish computational thinking competencies coupled to standards Create and review resources (VV&A process) in HPC University (NSDL) Scale-up successful programs and activities with external organizations Engage with standards setting bodies (AAAS, NSTA, NCTM, GRE) Document case studies for others to adopt/adapt/scale-up On-going community requirements and feedback process

Outreach Objectives Raise awareness of impact and access to TG in all fields of science Engage current & new communities of TeraGrid users “on their own turf” Provide annual user’s group (TeraGrid conference) Offerings to meet objectives Major TeraGrid presence at professional society meetings (2-4/year) Expand Campus Champions memberships to expand user base TeraGrid ‘xx Conference - tutorials, talks, demos, collaboration Leverage partnerships (e.g. CI Days with EDUCAUSE, NLR, Internet 2, MSI-CIEC, OSG; GIN; PRAGMA, etc.) RP Tasks to meet objectives Coordinate and support professional society outreach - talks, exhibits, tutorials, etc. Coordinate and support Campus Champions - logistical and technical Participate via speaker’s bureau and CI Days outreach Conduct on-going community requirements and feedback process Support annual TeraGrid Conference

Training Objectives Establish HPC competencies for learning and workforce development Integration of HPC resources into research and education Address evolving petascale (and beyond) needs and requirements Establish effective (research-based) on-line training methodologies Offerings to meet objectives HPC University catalog of quality events, on-line resources, etc. TeraGrid User Portal info and registration for all training Ensure persistent infrastructure for access to resources and information Train the trainers program for scaling-up Case studies of success RP Tasks to meet objectives Create and review resources (VV&A process) in HPC University (NSDL) –Focus on petascale and related emerging HPC topics Scale-up successful programs and activities with external organizations Document case studies for others to adopt/adapt/scale-up Implement single registration process Conduct on-going community requirements and feedback process

External Relations Objectives Multi-media information about TeraGrid’s resources and services Multi-media Science Highlights in all domains including under-served communities Awareness of TeraGrid via multiple venues (web, conferences, journals, etc.) Offerings to meet objectives Timely multi-media information of relevance to users, potential users, educators, funders, and public via multiple venues Annual TeraGrid Science Highlights TeraGrid promotional materials for distribution at events RP Tasks to meet objectives Continue to provide timely multi-media information Produce mutli-media Science Highlights Produce promotional materials to highlight resources and services Establish partnerships with professional societies as outlets for stories Conduct on-going community requirements and feedback process

Evaluation Objectives Evaluation of the effectiveness of the EOT programs Address second tier impact on community Provide foundation for longitudinal studies of impact Offerings to meet objectives An annual cross-RP evaluation report, with quarterly updates Case studies and best practices published Recommendations for program improvement RP Tasks to meet objectives Develop common instruments and process for cross-RP evaluation Conduct surveys, interviews, and collect relevant data Document case studies and best practices Conduct on-going community requirements and feedback process
