How can I help my child? Vocabulary : Grammar : General Knowledge
Try to point out new words and encourage him to look up their meaning and how they are used. Grammar : When you hear errors in his speech or if he is lapsing into bad English, check him immediately Remind him to read up his old textbooks for samples of English General Knowledge Help increase his general knowledge through discussing current affairs topics, famous people, landmarks, values etc.

Writing Point out samples of good writing in books or articles you have read Encourage him to share his writing with you and critique it constructively Reading Aloud Encourage him to read aloud to you Picture Discussion Have him examine pictures in the newspapers and give comments on the situation and predict outcomes

Conversation Encourage him to form his own opinion on issues and also think of valid reasons to support them. He could run them by you to see if they hold water. Listening Get him to listen to short excerpts of news or even instructions and repeat them back to you after a few minutes or an hour. / Summarize the information (to see if he has picked up the correct information)
