2 Havering College of F & HE Mixed economy institution situated in the London Borough of Havering (M25 - J28) 4 sites including a partnership arrangement each 3 miles apart 14,000 students 23% in age range 16-18 73% over 19 4% 14-16 Average student age – 34.8 years

3 Mission – to provide high-quality education and training Vision - is of a college provided by the community for the benefit of its communities The college draws students from Essex, Kent and the outer and inner London Boroughs

7 HE validation/approval We have 2 possible models:- 1. The curriculum is developed by the college and then validated by an HEI. 2. The college is approved by an HEI to deliver one or more of its courses. ‘Off the Shelf” delivery

10 Quality Assurance – Need an ‘umbrella’ QA system that meets the requirements of validating HEIs Never free from scrutiny- –HEI Annual reports –HEI Course reviews and audits –QAA subject reviews

15 Top up fees of £3000 – we will continue to charge the standard fee in 2006 Changes to HEFCE funding – will it become formula based and more like LSC FE funding? HE students to have Personal Development Plans (PDP) – like individual learning plans (ILPs)
