2. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group SBST IS CREATED TO MEET THE FOLLOWING LEGAL REQUIREMENT. WAC 296-305-05502 Training and member development. (1) The employer must provide training, education and ongoing development for all members commensurate with those duties and functions that members are expected to perform.

3. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group WAC 296-305-05502 (c) The fire department shall develop an ongoing proficiency cycle with the goal of preventing skill degradation.

4. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group WAC 296-305-05502 (4) Members who are expected to perform interior structural firefighting shall be provided with an education session or training at least quarterly.

5. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group By utilizing IFSAC FF I through FO II skill sheets and IFSTA training materials, we can provide the “Commensurate” training throughout the four quarters of the year to meet the WAC 296-305 requirement.

6. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group The four IFSAC levels are grouped together in similar lesson types to increase the efficiency and delivery. One drill and one class are regionally scheduled per quarter, as well as an SCBA drill. The eight focal areas are:

7. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group 1-Basic Response- Drill based, single or multi-company fire scenario, that can encompass single thru multi-alarm resources. The drill objectives are to lay lines, perform ladder evolutions, establish incident command, etc.

8. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group 2-Basic Communications- Class based covering use of radios, ICS, report writing. Objectives – RMS familiarity, communications tools familiarity, etc.

9. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group 3- Ladders/Ventilation/Utilities- drill covering just what it implies. Objectives – ground and aerial ladder work, ventilation profiles, tool and equipment familiarity, etc.

10. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group 4- Fire: Car, Combustibles, Flammable gas, Ground- Drill Covers all “types” of fires and extinguishing agents and delivery systems. Objectives – Class A, B, C, D extinguishers and agents, foams, etc.

11. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group 5- RIT/RIG Safety- Rit/Rig drill, fireground safety, search.

12. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group 6- Fire Officer I- Class that covers command for a line officer. Objectives – Initial Action Incident Command Functions

13. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group 7- Pre fire, Prevention, Arson, Pub. Ed.- Class covers all of what is in the title.

14. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group 8- Fire Officer II- Class that covers officer and admin functions in the Fire Service. Objectives – personnel management, Type 4 incident management, etc.

15. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group Each of these classes/drills include a set of IFSAC skill sheets that correspond with the topic. By identifying recognized industry course material we can deliver competency training to our firefighters and officers annually that meets/exceeds the WAC requirement.

16. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group Although the classes and lessons remain constant year after year, the content can be changed to offer different scenarios and emphasis on content.

17. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group The outcome of this is a measurable, trackable, and reliable method to meet basic training requirements. The broad scope of this training allows us to critique areas that need improvement by groups or individuals, and re-assign portions for remedial training based on the standards.

18. Tri-City Regional Fire Training Group This is a basic, reproducible approach that is intended to meet the WAC standard. It also provides a foundation to build upon for our training programs. By using recognized industry training materials (IFSAC, IFSTA) we can maintain a consistent base of information.
