21 Relief: ( 1 ) Syrian refugee Relief: Scope of the problem: Around 1.3 million Syrian refugees have immigrated to Jordan. 21

23 Around 130,000 are in refugee camps especially the main one: at Al-Zaatary near the Jordan- Syria borders. 23

24 The rest are scattered in many Jordanian cities and villages. Majority live in humble rented apartments and hosted or sponsored by local Jordanian individuals or NGOs from inside or outside Jordan. a 24

25 Their needs are universal: Shelter, food, cloths, medical care, schools. 25

26 Al-Zaatary refugee camp: Administered by the main NGO, semi-official NGO. The Jordan Hashemite Relief Organization هيئة الإغاثة الأردنية الهاشمية 26

27 ( 2 ) Refugees outside camps: The Jordan health authorities provide medical care to (registered) refugees, free of charge, in government clinics and hospitals. 27

28 FIMA collaborated with other NGOs to provide medical care, consumables and medications:  Muslim Aid-UK.  MRA- Malaysia.  IMA-Thailand. 28

29 Representatives of the 3 NGOs, together with FIMA representatives conducted field visits/evaluation for relief needs. 29

30 Donations were also received from other donors, including IMA-South Africa. Main relief work was provided in cooperation with: Syrian Expatriate Doctors for Relief. 30

31 Donations:  11,000 USD from Muslim Aid-UK.  22,000 USD from MRA- Malaysia.  30,000 USD from IMA- Thailand. 31

32 These donations were spent for:  Local refugee patient care.  Purchase of medical consumables, anesthesia machines (3) and heart- respiratory monitors (3), for the local field hospitals in Syria, according to their needs/requests. 32

33 IMA-Thailand, in addition, transferred US 20,000 from our side to IMA-Lebanon, according to bilateral understandings to provide medical relief to Syrian refugees in Lebanon. 33

39 ( 3 ) Gaza Relief: FIMA, represented by local IMA in Jordan continued collaboration with: THE JORDAN COMMITTEE TO SUPPORT HEALTH SECTOR IN GAZA 39

40 Chairman: Dr. Adnan Jaljuli One of FIMA founders in 1981. 40

41  Collaboration to send medical supplies, consumables and surgical equipments. 41

42  Residency and Fellowship training in medical institutions in Jordan: 45 trainee are currently enlisted in several universities or training hospitals in Jordan. 42

43  Last January: a charity dinner for fund raising was conducted to pursue support of trainees salaries and training tuitions. Estimated expenses are 300,000 USD/year. 43

44  Fruitful outcome: We just celebrated the graduation of 8 trainees from Gaza in several specialties urgently needed by their local communities- Alhamdu Lillah. 44

45  One trainee from Gaza in chest surgery, sponsored by FIMA, will graduate in 6 months, InshaAllah. 45

46 ( 4 ) New Relief Request: On Feb. 9, 2014, we received a request from Gaza MOH and the Medical College at Gaza Islamic University. 46

47 They need additional specialty training in the following specialties:  Physiology.  Pharmacology.  Psychiatry.  Anesthesia and ICU.  Radiology.  Neurology.  Neurosurgery. 47

48 All concerned IMAs are sincerely called upon to provide a helping hand to this relief effort (Sadaqah Jariah). 48

49 The current Israeli Aggression Escalating agony and sacrifices of a besieged, impoverished people. 49

50 On behalf of FIMA, we have established viable collaboration with local relief organizations in Jordan. 50

51 Direct contacts with health policy administrators in Gaza. 51

52 Jordan: Stability and proximity to the conflict area: A good base and center to properly organize and deliver various kinds of relief. 52

53  Provision of medical-surgical materials. The role of local drug- consumable in Gaza.  Sending medical-surgical teams into Gaza. 53

54 According to consultations with health leaders in Gaza: Immediate donation of USD 140,000 for consumables- drugs for Gaza local market, as an initial donation. 54

55 A long-term effort will be needed from all of us, in view of the widespread destruction and casualties. 55

56 Appreciation: Updates diligently circulated by Prof. Musa Nordin: Instrumental in shaping world public opinion. 56

57 Suggestions to further improve relief performance in general: 1.Activiation of the Relief working group, as decided last year. 57

58 2. Fund raising for relief: Action is needed. 3. Combined relief activities between IMAs-Under Umbrella of FIMA. 58

59 4. Activate collaborations- MOUs with local, regional and international NGOs. 59

60 5. Prepare brochures for various FIMA projects for public relations and fund raising:  Relief projects.  HIV/AIDS programs. 60

62  Islamic International Council For Dawa and Relief (IICDR): Practically frozen for the past 2 years. 62

63  Organizations of Islamic cooperation (OIC): Dr. Tanveer will update. 63

64  World Health Organization (WHO):  Collaboration in the area of Polio eradication.  Collaboration in the Ophthalmology Diploma program in Hergesa-Somali Land. 64

65  UN-ECOSOC: Will be addressed by Dr. Parvaiz Malik. 65

66  Tax Exemption in USA: Will be addressed by Dr. Parvaiz Malik.  FIMA Registration outside USA: Pakistan/Jordan/South Africa. 66

67 HIV/AIDS: FIMA team in the Middle East has been active in and outside the region. 67

68  Over the past year, 15 training and educational courses, for local leaders, were held in the Middle East, Africa, South and South East Asia, and Europe.  Main action is in the field of Education and Prevention. 68
