●It also known as Cell Differentiation. ●It a normal process by which a less specialized cell develops or matures to possess a more distinct form and functions process cell ●The key point to differentiation is ○Put cells in a different environment and get a different outcome. What is Differentiated Cells?

● It a undifferentiated biological cells, that can differentiate into specialized cells and can be divide (through mitosis) to produce more stem cells. ●They are usually found in multicellular organisms. ●There are two types of stem cells: ○Embryonic stem cells, which are isolated from the inner cell mass of blastocysts ○Adult stem cells, which are found in various tissues. ● Catherine Verfaillie ○found that stem cells isolated from the marrow of adult mice and rats appear to be nearly as long-lived and versatile as embryonic stem cells ○these cells called multipotent adult progenitor cells which are very similar to cells that she identify in human marrow The First Study ● Ronald McKay ○transformed mouse embryonic stem cells into dopamine-producing neurons ○transplanted a disease into the mouse ○its established functioning connections with surrounding brain cells, began releasing dopamine, and reduced signs of the disease The Second Study
