Introduction Picture books have many illustrations. Most of them are painted with water colours or drawn with pencil. Pictures are put in books to add more meaning to the text. Pictures sometimes take the place of text

Covers The covers of picture books usually show the main characters in the story but sometimes they show what the story is about. They are made to look interesting so people would choose read it. The covers of books suggest what will happen and the main characters in the story.

illustrations Illustrations in picture books are usually painted with water colour or are drawn with pencil. The pictures are usually used to show the reader what is happening and is usually in the view next to the characters. Some illustrators can make you feel like you are in the book with the characters and the surrounds. Maurice Sendak wrote and drew where the wild things are and did an excellent job at drawing the book so you feel like your there.

Commentary Picture books help get little kids into reading and makes them enjoy it more. It is important to have visual images in picture books to give more meaning to the description of the surroundings and its characters.

summary Picture books are great for little kids because you can still know what is happening without reading and you can find out what the words mean by looking at the illustrations. The pictures play a important role in the story; they give more meaning to the text and elaborate on the story. They are awesome!
