Educational Career Diploma in 1970 Age 24 moved to London to pursue a career in singing and song writing. Was a graphics teacher from 1976-1979 in London Became an author and illustrator in 1993 Is the founder of Writers and Illustrators Group

Illustrations Known for viewing the world through a child’s perspective. Range of color shades that reflect multicultural modern South Africa. Represent African Themes Illustrates mainly with watercolor.

Why We Chose Niki Daly Theme is fun and playful for children. Illustrations are different than average picture books. Wanted to learn more about him and his work.

Interesting Information Daly first became involved in drawing by using pencil stubs handed down from an uncle who painted watercolor pictures. Inspired by a collection of toys arranged on the windowsill of his London studio, Daly created his pictures Awards – Horn Book Honor List, 1987 – New York Times Ten Best Illustrated Books list, 1995 – Children's Africana Book Award Honor Book for Young Children, 2004
