Mission Statement The State University of New York College at Geneseo Inter-Residence Council, as the largest on- campus organization, is committed to providing a positive, approachable, and effective forum for all students. The Inter-Residence Council strives to be the aware and involved voice of Geneseo’s residential community and seeks to develop a broader intellectual, social, and cultural on-campus environment. From this foundation, the Inter- Residence Council trains and develops the next generation of student leaders.

History Lesson Residence Hall Association (RHA) National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH) –Divided regionally into 8 Regions –Geneseo belongs to: NorthEast Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (NEACURH)

Residence Hall Associations Usually divisions of Residence Life Many varieties of systems Geneseo unique Student Association Standing Committee Director of Inter-Residence Affairs is IRC Chair Integrally linked by mission and purpose with Residence Life and Division of Student Life

IRC Hall Funded Programs Come for partial funding for a hall programs Little IRC involvement outside of funding and suggestions Approximately 60-70 programs a year Wide variety: –Pots-n-Paints –Paintball –Mother’s Day Crafts –Floor dinners –Horse Back Riding –Picnics (Many in conjunction with RA floor programming)

IRC and Residence Councils Umbrella Organization –Facilitate RC Elections –Oversee training of RC –Partially fund many programs Campus Round Table (CRT) –Bi-weekly meetings of hall presidents –Overseen by the Campus Relations Coordinator –Fun, informative, planning

IRC Meetings Forum for discussion and ideas –Readily available source for student opinion –Open discussion to address concerns of students –Announcements about campus events Funding –Readings to provide RCs with funding –2 Readings for request over $75 –Debated and voted upon by General Assembly
