7 Junior High Athletics 1 st quarter: boys’ basketball, girls’ soccer, Wrestling 2 nd quarter: baseball, softball, badminton 3 rd quarter: volleyball, coed flag football, cross country 4 th quarter: girls’ basketball, boys’ soccer This is a no-cut program. This is a no-cut program.

8 Want to be a peer mediator? Peer Mediators help other students resolve conflicts without adult interference. Peer mediators will be trained in the fall, and will work in pairs when their services are required. Peer mediators can earn Service Learning hours toward the Silver Service Award, and will be asked to participate in other leadership opportunities during the school year.

9 Service Learning Service Learning Earn the Silver Service Award for 7 th and 8 th graders by completing at least 50 hours of community service See Mrs. Bodine in Counseling for an application and a list of suggestions for where to volunteer. Volunteer Service gives you great work experience, which you can use a little later when you’re old enough to get a paying job. Colleges, universities, and employers like to see Volunteer Service on your applications, plus you get a great sense of satisfaction from helping others.

10 SJHS ACADEMIC RESOURCES Extended Day Program: 1 hour after school DAILY Talk to your teacher! Ask them for help before or after school. Just set up an appointment. Teacher phone #’s and emails are available on Shepherd’s website.

11 Develop good study habits!  Organize your notebook have a pocket for each subject have a pocket for each subject  Write in your planner every day check your planner at night check your planner at night  Do your homework daily – study notes if you have no homework assigned  Get help as soon as you don’t understand something…don’t wait!

17 Things to do this summer  Look for registration package in the mail in July.  Attend Planet Shepherd! (fliers will be sent out later in the semester)  Get your ID card! (Will be in the mail after your parents have sent your registration back to Shepherd)  See you in August!
