7 Copper Mined in Michigan Important activity for a long time Many people moved to Michigan for mining jobs One mine had over 2,000 workers Most copper was mined in the 1900’s Today NO copper is mined anymore

8 Iron - Everyone uses it! Backbone of industry Used to make steel for tall buildings, cars, and nails Mr. William Burt and his Compass Iron ore is located in the Upper Peninsula in the cities of Ironwood, Ishpeming, Neguannee, Marquette, Iron River and Iron Mountain
