Birds live in a nest. Most birds build nests. Some are very simple. Others are carefully woven.

Some birds have to move to another habitat or migrate because of changes in the seasons.

Starlings, swallows and swifts migrate because of the change in the weather. They eat insects and other small mini-beasts which are not around in Winter.

Many birds like swallows, house martins and warblers have to eat lots of food to make sure they have enough energy to get through their long journey. Swallows make a 5,000 mile journey to South Africa. Click on the swallow to see it.

On the long migration journey there are many dangers on the way... bad weather starvation exhaustion predators who will eat them humans destroying their habitat humans hunting them getting lost
