2 August 30, 1930 Warren Buffett was born to Howard and Leila Buffett Born in Omaha, Nebraska

3 1941 11 years old Warren bought his 1 st stock ▫6 Cities Service stock ▫Half sister/half himself

4 1945 14 Yrs old Has job delivering Washington Post-$175 p/month Invested $1,200 of savings to 40 acres of farmland

5 1947 Senior in H.S. Warren had invested $5,000 delivering Warren’s dad told him to enroll in college/finance Went to Wharton School of Finance and Commerce in Pennsylvania-hated it “Smarter than the professors”

6 1949 Warren transferred from Wharton to the University of Nebraska Graduated from college in 3 years and taking 3 summer classes His savings reached $9,800

7 1950 Applied for Harvard Buisness School, turned down Enrolls at Colombia ▫Ben Graham & David Dodd- security analysts are professors

8 1951 First time got interested in GEICO insurance company Graduated/wants work on Wall Street ▫Father and Graham say “no” Offers work for Graham for free- denied

9 1951 (cont.) Returned home started dating Susan Thompson Purchased Texaco Station-investment- failed Started working as a stock broker

10 1951 (cont) 21 years old Took Dale Carnegie public speaking course Began teaching a night class at the University of Nebraska, "Investment Principles"

12 1954 Ben Graham offers Warren a job at his partnership Buffett's starting salary was $12,000 a year

13 1956 Graham retires, partnership ends Warren’s personal savings over $140,000 Warren and family return to Omaha

14 1956 May 1 st - Warren created Buffett Associates, Ltd. Only invested $100 Opened two other partnerships

15 1957 Adds two more partnerships-managing 5 Susan is expecting third child Bought bigger home- $31,500

16 1961 Partnerships worth millions Made 1 st $1 million dollar investment in windmill manufacturing company

17 1962 Buffett merges all of the partnerships into one known simply as Buffett Partnerships, Ltd Operations are moved to Kiewit plaza Started buying Berkshire Hathaway stock-textile manufacturing firm-profitable

18 1964 Buffett bought masses of American Express shares since they dropped

19 1965 Warren’s father died Invested $4 million towards Walt Disney Co. American Express shares doubled

20 1967 Warren Buffett was worth more than $10 million Buffett’s partnerships were worth more than $65 million

21 1969 39 Yrs. Old Buffett closes the partnership and liquidates its assets to his partners

22 1970 Buffett’s Partnership is dissolved Owns 29% of Berkshire Hathaway

23 1974 Berkshire’s stock began falling Personal wealth cut 50%

24 1977 Susan leaves Warren- heartbroken

25 1979 Berkshire trades at $290 per share Warren's personal fortune is $140 million

26 1981 Munger and Buffett create the Berkshire Charitable Contribution plan
