A simile is a rhetorical figure expressing comparison or likeness that directly compares two objects through some connective word such as like, as, so, than, or a verb such as resembles. He fights like a lion.

A metaphor is a figure of speech that describes a subject by asserting that it is, on some point of comparison, the same as another otherwise unrelated object. All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances;

Personification, is attribution of human form or other characteristics to anything other than a human being. The sun is dancing in the sky.

The pun is a form of word play that suggests two or more meanings, by exploiting multiple meanings of words, or of similar-sounding words, for an intended humorous or rhetorical effect. The old lady likes to sew once a week, so she has many sweaters.

Irony is a rhetorical device, literary technique, or event characterized by contrast, between what the expectations of a situation are and what is really the case, with a third element, that defines that what is really the case is ironic because of the situation that led to it. His biggest dog’s name is tiny.
