To become aware of the multiple factors which impact on the OA’s health state How the OA presents in an altered health state How to modify your nursing care in order to accommodate and treat the OA Understand some of the more common OA illnesses

Gerontology nurses utilise specialist nursing knowledge and judgement to provide competent care for older people in health rehabilitation and palliative care across the care continuum Gerontological nursing care aims to assist the older person in realising his/her highest potential through functioning as fully as possible or towards a dignified death (NZNO)
