FCCLA Stands For: Family, Career and Community Leaders of America

What is FCCLA? A Career and Technical Student Organization for Teens males and females are able to be members of FCCLA Nationally Recognized Student Organization Members currently are or have been enrolled in a Family and Consumer Sciences course

FCCLA The only organization of its kind that: Focuses on Family Issues Uses Individual and Team Projects to provide Leadership Opportunities Develops Critical Thinking and Decision- Making Skills Recognizes Student Achievement

How long has FCCLA been around ? Was previously known as Future Homemakers of America (FHA) from 1945-1999 Name changed nationally in 1999 to FCCLA

Eight Purposes 1.) To provide opportunities for personal development and preparation for adult life 2.) To strengthen the function of the family as a basic unit of society 3.) To encourage democracy through cooperative action in the home and community 4.) To encourage individual and group involvement in helping achieve global cooperation and harmony 5.) To promote greater understanding between youth and adults 6.) To provide opportunities for making decisions and for assuming responsibilities. 7.) To prepare for the multiple roles of men and women in today's society 8.) To promote Family and Consumer Sciences and related occupations

Organizational Structure National Level –Four Regions Kentucky is in the Central region, national officers and staff State Level –State Officers and Support Staff District Level – 14 Regions in Kentucky, numbered 1-15 SWHS is in Region 4 Local Level: SWHS FCCLA Chapter

Important Local Information: South Warren High School is an Intra- Curricular chapter, meaning that FCCLA activities that are integrated into the classroom as much as possible. FCCLA activities are utilized to enhance course content. Membership is renewed each year!
