15.  Assessors are Library Media Specialists  For the ECYA/LM certificate, these are the weights: ◦ 16% for each of the three classroom-based portfolio entries (#1-3) ◦ 12% for Documented Accomplishments (#4) ◦ 6.67% for each of the six assessment center exercises Total Weighted Score of 275 or greater is recognized as an accomplished teacher and awarded National Board Certification

17.  Entry 2: Appreciation of Literature  Can transfer your score to National Board candidacy at a later date  Good way to “get your feet wet”

18.  Some districts provide a stipend  Personal growth  Professional development  It’s a challenge! “The National Board Certification process makes a long-term change because your actual thinking changes. The reflective nature of the process forces you to closely examine every aspect of your practices” (Purcell 16).

19.  Read and download information online  Read books and articles written by others who have gone through the process  Organize!  Begin planning lessons and collaborating with teachers  Use a yearly calendar
