SUMMARY OF THE TWO DAY WORKSHOP Day 1. Welcome and Opening Remarks by Salvano Signing of MoU between ISDR and CADS Presentations: Part 1: Local Governments presentations from Albay, The Philppines; South Africa; Pune,India and Cataluna, Spain. The presentation higlighted the good practices of their offices, despite the hazards and vulnerabilities. (See power point presentations) Part 2: Presentations from the UN Agencies, UNOSAT, UNDP and ILO and Provention. They highligheted their programs and services to the Local governments. (See powerpoint presentation

Zenaida Delica-Willison If capacity (and readiness) is insufficient If vulnerabilities are too great If the scale of hazard is too big Then, the risk is too high, emergencies may not be managed locally, the communities may not cope, DISASTER will occur.
