RFID (RADIO FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION) Presented by Sreenesh Shenoy GM RFID & Software Stallion Systems and Solutions P Ltd
2
WHAT IS RFID The use of Radio Frequency technology to enable data exchange between reading devices and items carrying RFID tags RFID does not require line of sight or contact between the readers and tags
3
Antenna Reader / Decoder System Tagged Item RFID Components Tag
4
How RFID Systems Work? Middleware
5
RFID Based Total Library Management System
6
Issue/Receipt Member picks required books from shelf Check In/Out Counter Antennae detects the Books picked and Member ID
7
Self Check-in/Check-out Member place books along with ID card on Kiosk Kiosk detects the books & member automatically Issue/Return receipt prints from Kiosk
9
Book Drop Member drops the books Antennae detects the books automatically Books marked as returned in the software
11
Book Find Feed the book Code to portable reader User moves portable reader near the rack Reader beeps once the required book number is found Stock Taking Done by a portable reader User moves portable reader near the rack All book numbers will be saved in reader memory Transfer data to software to generate report
13
Anti-Theft Detection Reader installed at the Gate reads all outgoing books Check if the book is already issued Make alarm if book is not issued
15
Why UHF over HF ? Advanced Technology High Read range up to 8-10 meters Higher reading speed 8-10 books can be detected at the same time Gate reader detection is can be up to 2 meters No needs to use addition EAS labels for Anti-theft Widely used in different applications & less price Old Technology Low read range up to 20-25 cm maximum Lower reading speed Only 2-3 books can read at the same time Gate reader detection is maximum 80-90 cm Many HF implementations uses additional EAS label Used in only limited applications and higher price UHF HF
16
Uniqueness of Stallion RFID Solution Uses advanced UHF Technology Compatible with different platforms such as Windows, Linux,.NET, JAVA RFID read/write operation can be done even on a Linux machine Fully compatible with any browser based applications RFID read/write operations can be done directly from browser itself Not required to install any applications/drivers in client PC
