Institutional commitments p.5 1. …to develop or expand local campus initiatives to…commit to meeting the programmatic commitments outlined below develop or expand local campus initiatives … 2. contribute funds and in-kind instructional and management resources to the Network to support cross-Network activities and management 3. have methods for communicating with all STEM graduate students and post docs at their institution 4. foster formal and informal interactions among future faculty at the local institutional level through a local learning community, as well as at the national level through the cross-Network CIRTL learning community

b. Programmatic Commitments p. 6 1. ….The programmatic component of the learning community will include (but are not limited to) courses, workshops, seminars and other activities; these latter activities could be created locally or draw on existing programs throughout the Network. In these programs, participants will develop skills in line with the CIRTL Learning Outcomes 2. … provide explicit opportunities for future faculty to do Teaching- as-Research projects. 3. … commit to offering some programs as cross-Network opportunities. 4... commit to integrating cross-Network offerings into the local CIRTL learning community. 5. Each of the local programs and those programs offered as cross- Network opportunities should incorporate, at least in part, the CIRTL pillars and associated concepts.

c. Evaluation commitments p6 Core Institutional Members commit to submitting an annual evaluation report for all local CIRTL-funded programs using a Network-provided on-line template. Evaluation reports will be reviewed by the committee in order to assess progress toward achieving local goals at each member institution, as well as to examine progress toward achieving overarching Network goals. The committee will prepare a summary report for the Executive Committee and Network. Members are encouraged to implement additional evaluations locally, for which the Network provides a library of assessment instruments to draw from. Requirements and Expectations for Managing Network Members p.7 … The contract would specify specific responsibilities, deliverables, and associated budget. These would be approved by the Executive Committee of the Institutional Network Leaders and the chair of the Board of Directors. The contractual responsibility for management success must lie with an identified individual of the Managing Network Member. Possible management responsibilities might include: Online Community and Technology; Cross-Network Programs; Evaluation
