3 Our mission  The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work aims to make Europe ’ s workplaces safer, healthier and more productive.  In particular, the Agency is committed to promoting an effective OSH preventive culture.

11 What is the message?  The risks of noise go beyond hearing loss (synergy with other workplace factors).  Noise goes beyond traditionally ‘loud’ industries – it can affect millions of workers in the service sector (entertainment, education, call centres etc).  Noise is a complex issue and can be a problem in any workplace but it can be tackled successfully.  2003 EU directive which sets new noise exposure limit is to be implemented in Member States by Feb 2006

12 What are the priority sectors?  Transport (esp. Road and air)  Construction  Agriculture, fishing, forestry  Food and drink manufacturing  Metalworking  Education  Call centres  Entertainment (incl. Service sector)
