11. LANDSCAPE CREATIONS EXAMPLE: The part of the Labe river between Pardubice and Mělník was shortened about a third at the end of 19 th century to make the river transport easier. The winding river was cut from blind stream branches and pressed by dams. Most of the flooded forests was changed into fields. The transport on the Labe river got faster by that but the river lost its original character and also the ability to manage smaller floods.
