How to use semicolons. Reading a short story

3 Semicolon Use a semicolon to separate main clauses that are not joined by a coordinating conjunction. She can’t play the saxophone, but I know she’s like to learn. She can’t play the saxophone; I know she’d like to learn.

4 Directions: Rewrite these sentences taking out the comma and coordination conjunction, and replace it with a semicolon. I arrived late, so I crept on the stairs quietly. 2. Mrs. Lopez isn’t home, but she did leave you a note. 3. Your backpack is heavy, for you have too many books in it. 4. There aren’t enough pencils, yet we can’t get any more. 5. For homework complete the questions, and write them in full sentences.

I have time to look for the answer on-line. It should be easy. There are three cookies left. Peter ate the rest. The flowers were pruned. Mr. Bents came by yesterday. It’s chilly outside. I will bring an extra sweater. The phone is off the hook. It fell off the table.
