What is manuscript? n. 1. A handwritten book, poem, or other document, or a collection of such handwritten documents bound together: The contents of the manuscript include a romance and a saint's life. 2. A version of a book, article, or other work before being published or prepared for publication: The author submitted the manuscript as a text file. 3. Handwriting, especially in contrast to print: Her last poems were left in manuscript.

Abbreviations Periods or not. What can be abbreviated? “&” and “+” Well known organizations can be abbreviated. YMCA CFS FBI

Numbers Spell them out- one or two words. 100 Should be spelled. Use a hyphen. Twenty-one Note* Years and parts of a book are exceptions. 1776 Page 23

Dividing Words Only two or more syllables Between Pronounceable syllables Do not carry over two letter syllables. Divide after prefix Double consonant divide Note the exception. Does not apply to words that already in in double consonant before suffix is added.
