Romania is the largest country in south-eastern Europe GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT ROMANIA Ethnic structure: Romanians - 89.5%; Hungarians - 6.5%; Roma - 2.5%; other ethnic groups -1.5% Official language: Romanian, the mother tongue for 91% of the Romanian population. Hungarian is spoken by the most numerous ethnical minority and German language by the German minority. The main foreign languages used in Romania are: English, French and German. Comenius Multicultural Project "RECEPTION AND INTEGRATION OF IMMIGRANT, MINORITIES AND CHILDREN IN SOCIAL RISK FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE WELLBEING AND THE QUALITY OF THE SCHOOL" This project attempts to approach the difficulties that immigrant, minorities and children in social risk have in the school systems. These difficulties will be dealt with through four work areas; conflict resolution strategies, participation and integration with their peers, intercultural school mediators, and improvement of school performance and achievement. Countries involved in the project: Spain, Romania, Portugal, Italy

The multilateral partnership is based on the in-depth-study of the content of articles 10 and 11 of CHARTER OF FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION solemnly proclaimed in Nice 7th December 2000 on the freedom of thought, conscience, religion, expression, information, and the preparation of a multidisciplinary path involving history, social sciences, national and foreign languages for students from 14 to 19. freedom.

All countries involved in the project: Bulgaria, Turkey, Romania, Germany, Poland, and Italy together will create a big working group to compare the educational strategies, giving attention to the freedom concept.
