He played in jazz-rock bands like Last Exit and other various groups (where he got the name Sting from a yellow and black striped shirt). He settled down with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers with the smashing rock trio, The Police. He worked in the band until 1984, when he went solo. Before his music career he was a ditch digger, a schoolteacher who taught English and a soccer coach. In 1986, Sting began working on the ambitious Nothing Like the Sun, which was dedicated to his recently deceased mother. The album received generally positive reviews upon its release in late 1987, and it generated hit singles with We’ll Be Together and They Dance Alone. Then Sting began actively campaigning for Amnesty International and environmentalism, establishing the Rainforest Foundation, which was designed to raise awareness about preserving the Brazilian rainforest. An abridged Spanish version of Nothing Like the Sun, Nada Como el Sol, was released in 1988. After his father's death Sting released 1991's The Soul Cages, a dark, and complex album. Two years later, he delivered Ten Summoner's Tales, a light, pop-oriented record that became a hit on the strength of two Top 20 singles, If I Ever Lose My Faith in You and Fields of Gold. At the end of 1993, All for Love, a song he recorded with Rod Stewart and Bryan Adams for The Three Musketeers, became a number one hit. Three years after Ten Summoner's Tales, Sting released Mercury Falling in the spring of Although the album debuted highly, it quickly fell down the charts, stalling at platinum sales and failing to generate a hit single. While the album failed, Sting remained a popular concert attraction, confirming his immense popularity. Brand New Day followed in 1999.

Songs SHAPE OF MY HEART He deals the cards as the meditation
And those he plays never suspect He doesn't play for the money he wins He doesn't play for the respect. He deals the cards to find the answer The sacred geometry of chance The hidden law of probable outcome The numbers lead a dance. Refrain: I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier. I know that the clubs are weapons of war. I know that diamonds mean money for this art. But that's not the shape of my heart. He may play the jack of diamonds He may lay the queen of spades He may conceal a king in his hand While the memory of it fades.

That's not the shape, the shape of my heart
Refrain: That's not the shape, the shape of my heart And if I told you that I loved you You'd maybe think there's something wrong I'm not a man of too many faces The mask I wear is one Those who speak know nothing And find out to their cost Like those who curse their luck in too many places And those who smile are lost .

Refrain Refrain: That's not the shape of my heart
That's not the shape, the shape of my heart. FRAGILE If blood will flow When flesh and steel are one Drying in the colour Of the evening sun, Tomorrow's rain Will wash the stains away, But something in our minds Will always stay. Perhaps this final act was meant To clinch a lifetime's argument That nothing comes from violence And nothing ever could. For all those bom beneath an angry star, Lest we forgot how fragile we are. Refrain
