The plan thus far 1)To “commission” both systems independently in order debug and get to the point of taking/validating physics data Ping pong stores between running l2xft & l2cal 2)Combine upgrades into one system (some of this ideally done in parallel with (1)) 3)Setup/validate new build node/ trigger tables 4)Learning to drive ( driving with new pc’s ) Items 3 & 4 allow us to decouple from the old pc’s and start running upgrades as part of a default configuration. A lot of the work associated with these tasks were done in the context of L2CAL but are required for both upgrades

General; current situation Have 2 new pc’s and multiple copies of all inputs New default decision PC runs –(SVT,MUON,RECES,CLUSTER,4xL2CAL) –Currently runs PHYSICS_4_02[7,894,690] The spare pc runs parasitically with –(3(6)XFT, SVT, with merged CLUSTER+RECES+MUON, 4xL2CAL) –Same table as decision pc

Status of combined system Running L2CAL & L2XFT (3 input) fails at 240e30 ( works below 190e30 ) –Has been hard to get detailed information about failure mode –Current information suggests large data size & bus contention (see earlier talk) Need to alleviate the problem fast in order to have a chance of validating the full system before the shutdown

The plan (2) Full system commissioning schedule will likely depend on how data volume issue is resolved Regardless of how the data volume issue is resolved it is desirable to put a event size cut upstream of the PC

Summary 1)We are counting on the review committee to help us find a solution to the data volume issue soon 2)Meanwhile we will continue the current plan of running the combined system with 6-L2XFT parasitically to see what we can learn at high lumi 3)Need to make sure the new system is not on the edge
