Resource & Wellness Centre
… information & support This is a one-stop information centre on dealing with cancer and to provide empowerment for cancer patients, their families and caregivers. Services: - support group sessions - peer counseling - cancer reference library - nutritional advice - cancer talks - exhibitions - feel good workshops - wellness classes (yoga, qigong, line dancing) - complementary therapy (massage, aromatherapy)

Women’s Cancer Detection Centre
… screening & early detection This is a one-stop women’s diagnostic centre that provides cancer screening services for women for all ages. Services: ultrasound (breast, thyroid, abdomen, pelvis) digital mammography - breast examination pap smear - HPV vaccination bone density test - blood screening tumour markers others: - breast prosthesis fittings - teaching of breast self examination - prostate specific antigen (PSA) and prostate ultrasound

Nuclear Medicine Centre
… investigation This is a referral centre where medical specialists from other hospitals refer their patients for nuclear medicine imaging. Service: to provide diagnosis on cancer spread in organs and bones before initiating surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy. bone scan - thyroid scan renal scan - meckel’s scan GIT bleeding scan - iodine 131 wholebody scan

Cancer Treatment Centre
This treatment centre provides radiation treatment for cancer patients at minimum cost or subsidized rates, and has a low or no waiting list. Services: radiotherapy - chemotherapy hormone therapy - high dose brachytherapy

Children’s Home of Hope
… care This home provides accommodation for children with cancer. Service: Affordable and accessible accommodation for outstation patients and their caregivers undergoing cancer treatment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

What is Relay For Life? Overnight, 16-hour event (sundown to sunrise)
Teams/individuals take turns to walk the track throughout duration of event What else do we do at Relay? On-going entertainment, activities, food bazaar, performances, etc.

Significance of Walking the Track Overnight?
To symbolize the journey of a cancer patient. - from daylight to darkness (fear when diagnosed) - from darkness to sunrise (hope after treatment)

How Did It All Start? Dr. Gordy Klatt, Tacoma, Washington (1985)
Walk & Run 24 hours to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. He raised USD27,000 the first year. He invited his friends to join him the next year. People camped out and took turns walking the track. Today, Relay For Life is being held in 22 countries all over the world.
