You will learn what information a climagraph contains. You will describe an area’s climate using a climagraph. You will construct a climagraph from given data.

A climate graph combines a line graph with a bar graph to give information about an area’s climate. The line graph shows average monthly temperature. The bar graph shows how much precipitation an area receives in one month.

The left hand y-axis shows us temperature, and is used with the line graph. The right hand y-axis shows us inches of precipitation, and is used with the bar graph. The x-axis is labeled with the months of the year.

What month has the highest average temperature? What month has the lowest average temperature? Describe the overall temperature pattern in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Look at the “North and South America: Political” map on page 534. Locate Sao Paulo How does the city’s location explain its temperature pattern?

Sao Paulo is located near the ocean. Coastal locations often have mild temperatures that don’t fluctuate seasonally

What month receives the most rainfall? What month receive the least rainfall?

Complete #1-6 of the practice sheet- use a sheet of paper. You have 6 minutes, then we will discuss.

What climate zone is this location probably in? How do you know? What would a climagraph from polar region look like?
