3. 1-Introduction  The Paralympic games give a chance to the disabled athletes to prove their capacity in spite of their handicaps which can be : a physical handicap like an amputation or blindness. Mentally handicapped can participate again since this year … really all kinds of handicaps. According to their disabilities,there are several categories of activities !

4. 2-History  Who created the paralympics games ?  Dr.GUTTMAN created the paralympic games.  Even if sir Ludwig Guttman died in 1980, his vision of sport for athletes with disability still continues.

5. Place and date of creation Dr Guttman organized the international weelchair games in 1948 during the London games.  He dreamed of a world competition of sport for disabled people every 4 years.  Nowadays, it is an Olympic competition, his dream became reality.

6. The first paralympic games  The first paralympic games took place in Rome (Italy) in 1960 and 400 athletes from 23 countries met there. Only athletes in weelchair were invited to participate in the competition.  The paralympic games of winter took place in Sweden in 1976. There were only 12 countries for skiing. It took place during 2 weeks.

7. 3-The sequences of paralympic games. To open the ceremony,some athletes host the paralympic flag, the flame is lit and finally all the athletes arrive. The flame burns during all the games.
