7 Zero88 Alpha pack 2 Taken from: Alphapack 2 is a 3 channel fully portable dimmer unit, which can be safely secured to a stand or wall with the use a mounting bracket. One of our most popular dimmers, the Alphapack 2 finds uses in all areas of the lighting industry. Rental, display, education, event services and live music users have all found the Alphapack 2 to be a perfect solution. The local fader controls make the Alphapack 2 ideal for ‘fit and forget’ situations, as well as allowing use as a follow spot dimmer. This compact and rugged unit has 3 faders for local control, or can be controlled remotely as part of a larger lighting system. The Alphapack 2 offers both analogue and DMX control inputs providing maximum flexibility for a great price. A unique safety system and overload protection circuit means that the Alphapack 2 provides an extremely safe and reliable solution to small dimming applications, never allowing the dimmer loads to draw more current than is available from the supply. Features Three Channels 6.3 Amps per channel Three fader Local Control Overload protection circuit “In” and “Thru” Control Connections Channel Selection Switch with LED Optional Mounting Bracket This could be used in a theatre when the lights need to be dimmed as the show starts and when they need to light the auditorium up again at the end and interval

8 Selecon Scenarios: When choosing wash lights I would choose the selecon wash because it has something similar to a frosted lens. I would choose this fixture over a parcan because you have more control over the beam angle and the shape of the image projected using the manual shutters. The parcan does not offer a frosted/diffused lens, however you can recreate this effect with a parcan by using frosted gel. I would use this light as a wash light to cover wide areas on stage. Accessories G – clamp Barn doors Gel frames Safety chain Adjustable arm Adjustable knob 15 AMPS Explanation: This light is used for general wash on stage to light a whole area. The fixture has the ability to hold gel in the front, allowing you to create different colour washes. This fixture uses a 650w lamp.

9 PC G – clamp Barn doors Gel frames Safety chain Adjustable arm
Adjustable knob 15 AMPS Accessories: Explanation: The pebbled effect gives the beam its characteristic soft edge. The edge of the beam is slightly harder than a Fresnel, but is not hard edged. The pebble convex lens uses the efficiency of the Plano convex lens and gives the light a softer edge. Like a Fresnel, there is one focussing knob to change the beam angle. This fixture also uses a 650w lamp This light is used for general cover because it is part of the Fresnel family. The pebble convex also has a pebble lens which means that you can also use it to replace a spotlight. Scenarios: if there was no option to use a source four to pin point a certain element on stage I would use a pc because they have a pebble convex lens so they can replace a spot and they have similar features of a Source 4. I wouldn’t use a par can because it is very difficult to be accurate and pin point a source as it is more of a wash than a profile.

10 CCT Scenarios: I would use this light to side wash a stage for a dace company because it provides a general wash cover. Explanation: A CCT is also part of the Fresnel family. This means that it diffuse light and is mainly used for general cover. You can also use the gels to create different coloured lights and the barndoors to isolate the light to a specific area. This light uses a halogen bulb 650W. I would use this light over a PC fixture because this fixture has a diffused output allowing general wash cover with no defined edges. Accessories: G – clamp Barn doors Gel frames Safety chain Adjustable arm Adjustable knob 15 AMPS Ridge Circular lens

11 Selecon G – clamp Barn doors Gel frames Safety chain Adjustable arm
Scenarios: If I was choosing a light to create a general wash at a Christmas show I would choose a selecon because it is good at creating a general wash because it diffuse the light well. I would choose a selecon over a parcan because it only adds dept to general cover it isn't strong enough to cover the whole stage. I also would not choose a source four because it is too defined and wont diffuse the light well. Accessories Explanation: G – clamp Barn doors Gel frames Safety chain Adjustable arm Adjustable knob 15 AMPS This is purposely used for general cover to light a whole area but you can use the gels to create many different colours and you could also use the barn doors to isolate the light to specific areas that you would want the light to highlight. This light uses a halogen bulb 650W.

12 Scene 1K Scenarios: If I was choosing a light to use for creating a backlight in a musical I would choose a 1K because it diffuse light well and create a good general wash and because it is very bright to create a good definition of the actors. I would choose a 1k over a birdie because a birdie is not bright enough and I would not choose a minutte profile either because it is too defined. Accessories: Explanation: The scene (1K) diffuse light and can be used for general cover. You can use the gels to create many different colours and you could also use the barn doors to isolate the light to specific areas that you would want the light to highlight. This light is also used for a back light, this is when you create a definition of the actor on stage because it is lit from behind to make them stand out. The 1K does not go further than other lights but it is much brighter. This light uses a 1K halogen bulb. G – clamp Gels Barndoors Gel frames Safety chain Adjustable arm Adjustable knob 15 AMPS Ridge circular lens

13 Floodlight Scenarios:
If I was choosing a light to light a cyclorama I would choose a flood light because it is good at creating a general wash so the cyclorama would be lit evenly. I would choose a floodlight over a birdie because a birdie is to small and not powerful enough and I would not choose a minutte profile because it would be too defined and not create a general cover. Explanation: You can use the gels to create many different colours. This light floods the room with light and you would use it to light up the audience because it has no direction. You could also use it for crowd surfing at a gigs and lighting up the cyclorama in a contemporary dance performance. This light cannot control the size of the light and is controlled by the lighting desk. This light uses a 500W halogen linear bulb. Accessories G – clamp Gels Gel frames Safety chain 15 AMPS

14 Birdie G – clamp Gels Gel frames Safety chain 13/15 AMPS Halogen bulbs
Scenarios: I would use this light for lighting up table centres for an awards show using one light per table to highlight centre pieces. Accessories Explanation: to light up centre pieces on the tables for an awards show I would use the Birdie over a parcan because the parcan has a wider beam angle than the Birdie, the birdie has a very narrow beam allowing you to pin point certain elements. G – clamp Gels Gel frames Safety chain 13/15 AMPS Halogen bulbs

15 Parcan Scenarios: This is a parcan and I would use it for a music gig, this light is perfect for giving general wash cover and creating wash sequences. Accessories Explanation: Parcans are really good at giving a good wash of light across the stage I would use this light over a profile such as a source 4 because a source 4 will give you a defined edge where as there is no defined edge with a parcan. G – clamp Gel frames Safety chain Adjustable gels 15 AMPS Encased light bulb

16 L.E.D Scenarios: If I was choosing a light to use provide multiple colour enabling the scenes mood to change I would use a L.E.D because it uses a DMX cable so I can change the colour of the light from the lighting desk so it would be less effort and no fuss on stage and it is also energy saving and produces primary colours. I would choose a L.E.D over a floodlight because they use gel frames so it would be much harder to change the colours with ease. I would also not choose a source four because it is a special so it would not create a general wash it would be more specific on a certain object or actor. Accessories Explanation: You can use the gels to create many different colours. This light has many different small LED bulbs inside it and this means it does not get hot. It has no direction and just creates a general wash. An L.E.D has the same job as a parcan but you can change the colour from the lighting desk instead with a DMX cable from the light to the desk and this is made with male and female parts. G – clamp Gels Gel frames Safety chain Adjustable arm 13/15 AMPS DMX cable

17 Source Four G – clamp Gels Gel frames Safety chain 15 AMPS Shutters
Scenarios: This is a source four light if I was in a theatre I would use this light to light up certain elements on the stage, such as an actor or prop because this light has the ability to be focused on different shapes and sizes on stage. For example if I wanted to light a certain actors face only this fixture would be perfect. Accessories Explanation: I would use this source four over a parcan because the parcan only offers a wash of light and if I wanted to pin point a certain area on stage the parcan would not be suitable because it does not offer the same features as the source four, the source four has shutters built in to the fixture enabling you to create any shape. G – clamp Gels Gel frames Safety chain 15 AMPS Shutters Iris gobo

18 Minuette Profile Explanation: Accessories G – clamp Gels Gel frames
The differences between the Minuette profile and a parcan are that the Minuette can take a gobo and project patterns onto the area in question. The parcan does not offer this facility, however the parcan is a brighter lighting fixture. Accessories G – clamp Gels Gel frames Safety chain 15 AMPS Shutters Iris gobo Scenarios: This light is excellent for producing patterns on the stage or floor. It has the ability to take a gobo allowing you to create all kinds of different effects. for example if I wanted to create a look with tree branches you can use a gobo in this light to re create this image.

19 Pin Spot G – clamp Safety chain 13/15 AMPS Accessories
Scenarios: A pin spot is used for lighting up a mirror ball/glitter ball because it has a very narrow sharp beam. Explanation: I would use the pin spot over a Birdie because the pin spot has a very narrow beam and is more powerful than the birdie, although the birdie has quite a narrow beam the pin spot is more focused and sharp allowing you to create the effect needed when using mirror balls.
