Directions- Machiavelli’s The Prince was published in 1532 and one of the first works of political philosophy. In it, Machiavelli gives advice to future rulers and argues that immoral means must sometimes be used to gain and keep power. Take the following survey to find out if you could be described as “Machiavellian.” Place the number fitting your opinion on the line next to each question. 1=strongly disagree, 2=disagree, 3=neutral, 4=agree, 5=strongly agree

11-24- You are very Machiavellian! You know how to manipulate people for your own gain and are skilled at getting what you want. 0-10- You are somewhat Machiavellian! While you might not have the most faith in people, you might not manipulate them or use it for your own gain. Any Negative Number- You are not Machiavellian at all! You have faith in your peers and believe that most people are good. To you, the world is a nice place and you are part of the reasons why! Do you believe that your score fits your personality? Can you think of any examples from your life that show this?
