6. A Model Body Paragraph In WCPS there are 22,495 students. Of these students, 51% (11,504) of them are male. Just like WCPS, many of the characters in Fences are also male. Within the play, the male characters struggle with achieving their dreams and finding happiness in life. By reading Fences, many 11 th grade male students could learn a lot about life and not have to endure the same struggles that Troy, Cory, and Lyons experience. Also, of the 22,495 students that attend WCPS, 28% of them come from a diverse, non-white background. Even though all the characters in Fences are African Americans, most students will be able to relate to the issues that the Maxon family experiences throughout the play.

8. Good, Bad, Ugly? Everyone should read Fences. You should read this book; I really liked it. Fences is about a family in the 1950s. Fences should be read by all 11 th grade students in Washington County Public Schools because students can relate to it.
