Associate professor Marianne Jahre Project leader NETLOG Department of Logistics Research project 2001-2005 F Funded by the Norwegian Research Council and the following companies –BAMA, Posten, Unitor, Norsk Hydro, Kitron, Tomra, Tine –i.e. a mix of oil, shipping, food, electronics, and logistics providers F Approximately NOK 12 mill. – 20% from the companies/others, 80% from NFR F Main part goes to funding Ph.D. students

Associate professor Marianne Jahre Project leader NETLOG Department of Logistics Theme: Utilisation and development of logistics resources in supply and distribution networks –Logistics resources and how they interface with other resources within networks, how they are used and developed with regards to improved utilisation. –Two groups of resources – organisational and technical. –How they combine with other resources within the specific company, but in particular with other companies in the network.

Associate professor Marianne Jahre Project leader NETLOG Department of Logistics Thesis work F Lena Bygballe: use Unitor-cases and other case studies performed within Netlog for writing her thesis on INTERORGANISATION LEARNING – learning theory F Fahad Awaleh: will work with Kitron in his thesis. His theme is UTILISATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF SUPPLIERS AS LOGISTICS RESOURCES – purchasing and strategy theory; resource based view. Per Engelseth: works with Bama and use case studies performed within Netlog for writing his thesis on THE PACKAGE AS AN INFORMATION RESOURCE IN LOGISTICS NETWORKS – e.g. "creation and use of product traceability“ – packaging literature and theory on information and logistics flows. F Ingunn Elvekrok: works specificially with Tine and uses a number of the Netlog- cases for her thesis and has also some other more quantitative approaches to her theme which is PARTICIPATION AND INFLUENCE IN BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS – Hirschmann, social justice theory and actor bonds in ARA. F Calle Hatteland: wants to challenge the existing view on KNOWLEDGE INFRASTRUCTURE and will do his own cases on ports for his thesis. F Andreas Brekke: works specifically with Norsk Hydro, maybe also eventually with Tomra – works in his thesis on THE DEVELOPMENT OF ACTOR NETWORKS FOR RECYCLING OF ALUMINIUM.

Associate professor Marianne Jahre Project leader NETLOG Department of Logistics “The Netlog way” F Structured well ahead planned “2 days events” each month - everyone participates, companies twice a year F Data collection through “Flying Squads” - one week each semester everybody joins up, meeting with companies during that week for interviews - seminars, etc. in the evenings - social and efficient F Case write ups in teams with assigned “pushers” - for databank F Teams around companies and students with assigned “pushers” F Seminar series for external and internal presentations F Paper writing and course development/responsibility in ad hoc teams
