Proverbs 3:11 My son, do not reject the discipline of the LORD Or loathe His reproof.
Revelation 3:19 'Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.

3. Why Discipline Is So Important
HEBREWS 12:7-8 7 It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Job 5:17 "Behold, how happy is the man whom God reproves, So do not despise the discipline of the Almighty

4. Wise People Welcome Discipline
PROV 12:1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, But he who hates reproof is stupid.
Jeremiah 31:18 I have surely heard Ephraim grieving, 'You have chastised me, and I was chastised, Like an untrained calf; Bring me back that I may be restored, For You are the LORD my God.

5. Wise People Receive Instruction
Prov 13:18 Poverty and shame will come to him who neglects discipline, But he who regards reproof will be honored.
Prov 19:20 Listen to counsel and accept discipline, That you may be wise the rest of your days.
Prov 13:13 The one who despises the word (instruction) will be in debt to it, But the one who fears the commandment will be rewarded.
Prov 15 32 He who neglects discipline despises himself, But he who listens to reproof acquires understanding.

6. Wise People Change With Correction
Psalms 107: Fools, because of their rebellious way, And because of their iniquities, were afflicted. Their soul abhorred all kinds of food, And they drew near to the gates of death. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses.

7. Wise People Receive and Give Discipline
Prov 13: 24 He who withholds his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him diligently. Prov Correct your son, and he will give you comfort; He will also delight your soul. Prov 22: 15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of discipline will remove it far from him.

8. 1 Tim 5 1. Do not sharply rebuke an older man, but rather appeal to him as a father, to the younger men as brothers, 2 the older women as mothers, and the younger women as sisters, in all purity.
Prov 27:5-6 5 Better is open rebuke Than love that is concealed.6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.
