The purpose of program certification is twofold: First, it provides recognition and positive reinforcement for tutors (ITTPC) or mentors (IMTPC) successful work from an international organization, CRLA. Second, its certification process sets a recognized standard of skills and training for tutors (ITTPC) or mentors (IMTPC).

Every certified program is currently at one of three stages of certification:

CRLA Certifies Tutor and Mentor Training Programs who in turn certify their Mentor or Tutors Three Levels Regular Level 1 Certification Advanced Level II Certification Master Level III Certification

Compliance with federal copyright law is expected of all CRLA members. It is our legal and ethical responsibility to give authorship credit for all materials we use in the classroom and for tutor and mentor training. Additionally, it is our legal and ethical responsibility to purchase (or have students purchase) copyrighted materials.
