5 The Chapter - What do we do? Seminars and Workshops –find speakers and topics we think our members will find interesting and compelling. Tours –arrange exciting tours of engineering related facilities.

7 Becoming Involved Interested in joining our Chapter. –Contact any Chapter Executive member and let them know. –PEO works because of volunteers, we are a self-regulated licensing body- get involved.

8 The Chapter and PEO Liaison –The Chapter acts as a link between Council and you, the member. –Provide a two-way communication path for our members. –the local link of the Regulatory body. We are the local “eyes and ears”

11 Certificate Presentation Committee Pappur Shankar, Chair Mississauga Chapter conducts two certificate presentations annually. We give approximately 100 certificates every year. This outstanding committee does the following: Send invitations to newly licensed members. Organize certificates when they arrive. Organize the venue and refreshments. Arrange for photographers. Invite keynote speakers from various industries, PEO staffs and Councilors, and political parties. Organize two award ceremonies a year: one in May and the another in November. Members: Mohan Perera, Katherine Diep and Tapan Das. Joint our committee?

12 Mentoring Committee Tapan Das, Vice Chair In this program, the experienced professional engineers (mentors) provide guidance and advice to the candidates for Professional Engineering License,P.Eng (mentees) The program started in June 2006 and currently have twenty-two mentees are being mentored. Members of the committee – Tapan Das, Alberto DeSantis, Pappur Shankar and Ron Tsang. Volunteers are need to help in the meetings and workshops. If you are a P.Eng. with good experience and interested in mentoring, you can join as a mentor. If you need mentoring to get your P.Eng. License, you can join as a mentee.

13 Government. Liaison Committee Wafik Sunbaty, Executive Liaison between local council, such as MPPs,MPs with PEO to impress the role of PEO as a regulatory body for engineering practices in Ontario. The volunteers will meet with the local MPPs and MPs as required and inform them about the roles of PEO and gather information about the engineering projects and activities undertaken by government. Volunteers will undergo training by PEO. Present members: Wafik Sunbaty and Tapan Das. Interested in joining us where engineering meet political !

14 Education Committee Ron Tsang, Executive Science Fair at UoT once a year in April National Engineering Week in Feb: Required to go and address grade 7 & 8 kids about engineering Educational courses for new engineers Providing expertise to science and engineering projects in schools and universities New engineering courses at university Project management training

15 Environmental Committee Alan Giacomelli, Past Chair Meetings with presentation from experts about the pros and cons of various energy sources. Providing a report suggesting methods of reducing green house emission. This is a very hot item where the engineering community can take a leading role.

16 Nominating Committee Alan Giacomelli, Past Chair Volunteer required for selection of candidates for 2008 slate apart from executives.

17 Program Committee Arrange visits to various engineering plants. Arrange seminars and talks to experts. Arrange Barbeque party / picnic. Arrange “One day Seminar” of engineering and project management for engineers. Arrange program for EIT’s providing latest technology which benefits them.

18 Communications Committee Jana Havard, Excutive  Web page – Katherine Diep Manage Mississauga PEO chapter web sites. Update web page and send email blasts.  NewsLetter; Jana Havard This committee is responsible for Semi annual news letter  This year, the Communication Committee will try and get the Mississauga Chapter more involved in our local community. Local newspapers and Rogers Cable will be approached to help us promote our activities.

19 Advertising/ Marketing Committee Arrange for meeting with potential sponsors. Meet major companies to get involved.
