Memorials of God at Work With Us Joshua 4:1–24 4 beginning of claiming the promised land. 4 God in control of everything: 4 -when priests go in river 4 -when priests go out of river 4 -holding back the flooding river 4 -releasing the river 4 Nature and people obeyed God to His glory 4 Stones witness that God honors faith and helps all who trust Him - Memorials!

Memorials of God at Work With Us Joshua 4:1–24 4 Rep of each tribe carried large stone about eight miles to Gilgal. 4 Gilgal became important for the nation: 4 *crowned their first king there 4 *David welcomed there after rebellion 4 *It was on Samuel’s “ministry circuit” 4 *a “school of the prophets” there in the days of Elijah and Elisha 4 *Joshua’s camp and center of operations

Memorials of God at Work With Us Joshua 4:1–24 4 Prominent ‘memorial’ - reminder of what God did for His people 4 Memorial also required people to fear the Lord and bear witness of Him to the world. 4 Unfortunately memorial lost its spiritual meaning, became a shrine for Jews sinning. 4 Hosea and Amos condemned the people for sinful worshiping at Gilgal. 4 We must teach each generation the truth about the Lord and His promises.

Maybe… 4 More stone monuments would follow in obedience to God... 4 Nothing wrong with memorials, God want’s us to remember important acts and events. 4 Scripture does remind us to be grateful,and this undoubtedly includes Veterans and Freedom!

Memorials of God at Work With Us Joshua 4:1–24 4 God wants us to overcome and claim our inheritance in Jesus Christ. 4 Believe the Word of God step out in faith! 4 Surrender yourself to the Lord and put the old life behind you. 4 AMEN!
