WHY DO PEOPLE LOVE I.“IT IS A GREAT TRADITION!” A. There Are Different Kinds Of Traditions: 1. God’s traditions are RIGHT! (2 Thess. 3:6; 1 Cor. 11:2; Mt. 15:1-9; Col. 2:8; 1 Tim. 1:3-6; Pr. 30:5-6). 2. Man’s religious traditions are WRONG! B. Where did X-mas Begin (1 Pet. 4:11) ? 1. Where is the command, approved example, or necessary inference? a. What day or month (Luke 2:8) ? b. How many wise men (Matt. 2:1, 11) ?

WHY DO PEOPLE LOVE WHERE DID X-MAS BEGIN (1 PETER 4:11)? “Scholars do not know the exact date of Christ’s birth… In A.D. 354, Bishop Liberius of Rome ordered the people top celebrate on December 25. He probably chose this date because the people of Rome already observed it as the Feast of Saturn, celebrating the birthday of the sun. WHY DO PEOPLE LOVE II.“X-MAS KEEPS THE SPIRIT OF THE LAW, NOT THE LETTER!” A. What They Mean Is: “Sincerity is enough, but obedience is sinful (legalism). ” B. What Does God Say About This? 1. Contrast old & new law (2 Cor. 2:17-3:11; 4:1-6). 2. God demands sincere obedience (Heb. 10:26-29; John 4:23-24; Matt. 7:22-23). 3. God has NEVER condemned obedience (Mt. 23:23-24).

WHY DO PEOPLE LOVE III.“IT BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER!” A. Does The End Justify The Means (Rom. 3:8) ? B. The Crowd Is Often Wrong (Ex. 23:2; Prov. 1:10-11f; Matt. 7:13-14). C. True Unity Is Based On Truth (John 17:17-21; 2 Thess. 2:11-12) ! IV.“IT FEELS RIGHT!” A. Paul Felt Right (Acts 23:1; 24:6; 26:9-11; Pr. 14:12) !
