1
Ribosomes Make proteins Made up of RNA and protein Follow coded instructions that come from the nucleus
3
Endoplasmic Reticulum Components of cell membrane are assembled Proteins are modified Rough ER Involved in synthesis of proteins Named because of ribosomes on the surface Newly made proteins move from ribosomes into the rough ER where they can be modified Smooth ER Synthesizes lipids for the cell membrane
4
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum
5
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum
6
Golgi Apparatus Modify lipids and proteins from the ER Storage and packaging materials that will be exported from the cell Often called the "shipping department" of the cell Vesicles pinch off from the Golgi apparatus, move to the cell membrane, and the material in the vesicle is released to the outside of the cell
7
Golgi Complex
8
Golgi System
9
Lysosomes and Vacuoles Lysosome Small organelles filled with enzymes Break down lipids carbohydrates and proteins from food particles Break down organelles Remove debris Vacuole Stores materials Water, salt, proteins, carbohydrates Can produce pressure to help with support Small vacuoles are called vesicles Involved in transporting substances within the cell

and if you don’t water the plant…
13
Chloroplast
15
Found in plants Not in animal or fungi cells Photosynthesis Uses the energy from the sun to make energy- rich food molecules Surrounded by two membranes Contain large stacks of photosynthetic membranes Green pigment chlorophyll is located in the internal membranes
17
Mitochondria
18
Use energy from food to make high-energy compounds Cell uses this energy for growth, development, and movement Enclosed by two membranes Like chloroplast Inner membrane is folded
19
Put it all together…
