Health Reform Current Events Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) enacted Amended by the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (HCERA) AKA Affordable Care Act (ACA) ACA Launches an extended period during which changes to the healthcare system will take effect HQSI-Proprietary

Health Reform Change takes place in increments Between 2010 and 2018 Largest parts of this reform Individual mandate Employer play-or-pay Both take effect in 2014 HQSI-Proprietary

Health Reform-The Individual Mandate Penalties to be incurred if an individual or family has no coverage HQSI-Proprietary

Health Reform-The Employer Mandate Employer must offer insurance if they have 50 or more employees or pay a fine of $2000 per employee HQSI-Proprietary

Future and Controversies Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) A reasonable break is to be provided for employees to express breast milk for a nursing child for 1 year after the birth Does not apply to employers with less than 50 employees Does not include payment for this time HQSI-Proprietary
